For The Love Of Youth

“a special place where i got to just kinda be me.”

- Sammi Withers (far right)

For over 22 years, Rocksolid has been a safe and welcoming space for teens, and when we hear about the impact it has made, we can’t help but share those stories. Sammi Withers, owner of Baby Bear Mobile Play, was a Rocksolid teen from 2006 to 2008. Now, she’s giving back by supporting the program through her business!

Reflecting on her time at Rocksolid, Sammi shared, “Having Rocksolid be another consistent, safe, and supportive environment was probably more impactful than I really realized. Middle School years are hard as it is, so having spaces you feel safe and can be yourself in are priceless. It felt like a little family there honestly.”

During her time at Rocksolid, Sammi experienced the challenges of living in two states every other year due to her parents’ divorce. Through it all, Rocksolid remained a constant source of stability.

One of our core values at Rocksolid is Connection. To love our community and actively seek out ways to support and collaborate with organizations and individuals through community service, all while encouraging them to become involved in our program. This value resonated with Sammi when we asked her, How do you see Rocksolid playing a role in shaping the next generation of teens?

She responded, “ I feel like places that give teens an example of what community is and what it could be, will be so helpful for shaping the future. Getting them off-line and connecting with others, giving them opportunities to help and give back to the community, are such important lessons that feel hard to come by.”

Sammi’s story is a powerful reminder of why Rocksolid exists, to provide teens with a place to belong, grow, and connect. And years later, it’s incredible to see former Rocksolid teens carrying those values into their own communities.
